Woollen Wytch Sock Blanks are made from the same yarn base as my Merino Sock and are fingering/4ply weight yarn, which has been knitted up into a rectangular fabric prior to dyeing - and resemble a little scarf.
Our beautiful hand dyed sock blanks are knitted using a single strand of 4ply sock yarn which can only be unravelled from one end- making them perfect to create a faded shawl, hats or scarf. Fan of the odd sock, you can use this sock blank to knit coordinating (but unmatching) fraternal socks.
Simply start unravelling the sock blank from one end and start knitting - or if you prefer you can wind into a ball or cake first.
When you knit from a sock blank the yarn will have some crimp to it that makes your knitted fabric look a little uneven as you’re knitting your project. This relaxes and virtually disappears when you wet block your finished project and the knitted fabric evens out beautifully. Normally I would allow the garment to soak for at least 30 minutes to make sure the fabric is completely wet. Then block in your normal way.
Caring for your Hand dyed Yarn
Gentle hand wash, air dry flat.
Some bleeding may occur with saturated colours. Although every effort has been taken to ensure colourfast yarn, you may experience a small amount of colour bleeding on the first couple of washes. This is normal for hand dyed yarn.
