A Little Woollen Wytch Update
Share
It feels very strange writing this after being so quiet for so long, but I wanted to properly explain where I’ve disappeared to over the last few months and share what the rest of the year is going to look like for Woollen Wytch.
As many of you noticed, the online shop closed back in February. At the time, I was incredibly unwell and struggling to keep up with even the smallest day-to-day tasks. Not long afterwards, I found out why — I’m expecting a baby this September.
What a Shock!
While we’re very excited, I won’t pretend it’s been an easy pregnancy so far. I’ve had severe morning sickness that completely knocked me sideways for months, and for a while the business simply had to take a back seat while I focused on getting through each day.
Running Woollen Wytch has always been such a personal thing for me, and stepping away unexpectedly was difficult. I know I disappeared rather suddenly, and I’m incredibly grateful for the kindness, patience and understanding so many of you have shown while I’ve been quieter than usual.
Yarn Show of 2026- The Big Flock
The good news is that I’m finally feeling well enough to do one event this year — The Big Flock in Bristol this weekend. It will be my only show of 2026, and I’m genuinely really looking forward to being back amongst yarn people again, even if only briefly.
I’ll be bringing a wide selection of yarn, fibre, tools and one-off bits with me, including some colourways and stock that may not return once maternity leave begins. There are quite a few things that have been sitting quietly in the studio waiting for their chance to make an appearance, so it feels nice to finally bring them out into the world.
Online shop reopens- Temporarily
After the show, I’ll temporarily reopen the online shop for any remaining stock. This won’t be a long reopening though — the current plan is to close again in early August so I can properly prepare for maternity leave ahead of baby arriving in September.
After that, Woollen Wytch will be taking a longer pause, and I don’t currently expect to reopen until sometime in 2027.
I know that sounds like a long time, but I also know this season of life is one I’ll never get back, and I want to give myself the space to fully step into it without the pressure of trying to run a business at the same time.
This does mean that this weekend’s show — and the short online reopening afterwards — may be the last opportunity for quite a while to pick up certain colourways, fibres and tools before everything goes quiet for maternity leave.
Louet Drum Carder for Sale in Bristol
One thing I’ll also be bringing with me to The Big Flock is my Jumbo XL Louet Drum Carder. It’s barely been used and deserves to be in a studio where it’ll get the attention it was bought for. New they retail at around £750, but I’ll be selling mine for £500 ono during the show.
Mostly though, I just wanted to say thank you.
Thank you for continuing to support my tiny business through all of life’s twists and turns. Thank you for every order, every kind message, every share, every bit of encouragement and patience this year. Woollen Wytch has always existed because of the people who love and support handmade work, and I never take that for granted.
Hopefully I’ll see some of you at The Big Flock this weekend.
