Prepping for Unravel & Sub Club: A Busy Week in the Woollen Wytch Studio
Share
With Unravel just around the corner, the studio is in full chaos mode—yarn, packaging, and endless to-do lists! This is my first time vending at Unravel, and with it being a three-day event, there’s a lot to prepare. Add in the final packing for this month’s Sub Club boxes, and it’s safe to say things are a little hectic!
I've broken down the plan below- but check out my video at the bottom.
The Countdown to Unravel
Unravel is a pretty big deal, and as my first three-day show, I’m feeling the pressure. There’s still so much to do—sorting stock, organizing display stands, and making sure I don’t forget anything essential. The shed? A total mess. Corners best ignored. But that’s a problem for future me—right now, it’s all about getting everything ready in time.
Sub Club Packing Frenzy
Before I can fully focus on Unravel, I need to get the latest Sub Club boxes packed and shipped. This month’s colors? Think pinks, blues, and purples—definitely outside my usual earthy palette, but I’m loving how they turned out. My goal is to have everything labeled, packed, and ready to go by tomorrow, so I can shift my focus to the show prep.
Tools, Tripods & A Little Tech Upgrade
I’ve also been testing some new equipment for filming—an updated tripod and a small light for my camera. I’m hoping these will make it easier to capture more behind-the-scenes content, especially when I’m on the go. I’m slowly getting the hang of it (or at least, trying to).
Facing the Social Side of Shows
One big change this year? I’ll be doing all my shows solo. In the past, I’ve brought Ant along as my unofficial booth assistant (and, let’s be honest, social buffer). But I’ve realized that I’ve been relying on him a little too much, especially when it comes to talking to customers. As someone with social anxiety, shows can be overwhelming, but this year I’m pushing myself to step up and connect with people on my own. It’s definitely nerve-wracking, but I know it’s something I need to do to build my confidence.
The Final Stretch
With just a few days left, the plan is:
- Finish labelling and packing Sub Club (12/2/25-Now done & dispatched)
- Organize all my spindle kits and laser-cut tools
- Double-check my displays and stock lists
- Attempt to somewhat tidy the studio (wishful thinking)
- Pack the car and head off early Thursday morning on the 13th February.
It’s going to be a busy few days, but I’m so excited to finally be part of Unravel. If you’re coming to the show, do come say hi—I promise I’m friendly, even if I’m terrible at small talk!
Now, time to put on some music, power through the to-do list, and get everything sorted. Wish me luck!
