COVID-19 Update
Share
I hope everyone's keeping safe, both mentally and physically at the moment. It's definitely some scary unknown times at the moment. Anyone else have the monumental life changing feeling during Boris's announcement Monday night? It's one for my personal history book- although I'd rather forget Boris altogether if I'm being honest.
I just wanted to pop on here and give a quick update for what COVID-19 and the UK Lockdown means for Woollen Wytch.
Obviously it's an extremely fast moving situation at the moment, so I'm trying to keep up to date with Government and WHO guidelines as best I can. I'm aiming to follow everything that's recommended to me in running an online business in the UK.
I'm totally aware that a lot of you are turning to knitting and crafting as a means of distraction and mindfulness in these anxiety ridden times. I'm determined to act as safely and efficiently as I can in order to keep your orders going out quickly to do my part in helping to keep everyone happy, sane and calm- well as best I can with everyone being stuck indoors.
I carry out all Woollen Wytch work directly from my home, so unless I'm advised otherwise, I will continue to process orders.
Woollen Wytch Postage Days:
I'm reducing my post runs to the local Post Office in Bristol to once a week; I’ll try to keep you up to date on postage days if this changes. Post runs will be every Monday. Any orders after Sunday 4pm will be processed for dispatched the following Monday (i.e 8 days time).
If Royal Mail change their service and Post Offices are closed to general public, I will contact all customers with outstanding orders and make it clear on the website I don’t run a collection service. All orders after this time will be packed and ready for dispatch as soon as the Post Offices are reopened- essentially converting into a preorder system - you will be notified if this happens.
Advice from Gov.uk.
Following Government advice accessed via the Gov.uk portal, I will continue taking and sending online orders for as long as possible and safe, so you can still get crafting with your hand dyed yarn and fibre:
'Online retail is still open and encouraged and postal and delivery service will run as normal.'
Royal Mail Advice:
With regards to coronavirus and parcels, Royal Mail have confirmed the following on their website:
Public Health England (PHE) has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus. From experience with other coronaviruses, we know that these types of viruses don’t survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels.
Based on this information I will continue to send orders out whilst Royal Mail are happy to deliver them. One thing that has changed is that signatures are no longer required for delivery, this is to prevent customers from touching the handheld devices to protect both us and RM staff.
I hope all of this information has helped ease any worries you have about Woollen Wytch and ordering your yarn throughout the Lockdown.
If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate and contact me directly.
