Crafting Magic: New Weaves, Knits & My Dream Dye Shed! ✨🧶

Hey everyone! 🌟 Welcome back to another Woollen Wytch video! I know it’s been a few weeks since my last update, but I'm thrilled to be back and sharing all the exciting things I've been up to. Life's been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I'm in a much better place now. Grief is a journey, and while I still have moments where I deeply miss my nan, I'm finding joy in my memories of her and the creative work I do.

First up, I want to say a huge thank you for all your lovely messages on my last video and Instagram post. Your support means the world to me and has really helped lift my spirits. Now, let's dive into the fun stuff!

You might notice a new backdrop—welcome to my dye shed! 🎨✨ After getting tired of having my dyeing supplies take over the kitchen, we managed to set up a dedicated space for all my yarn dyeing adventures. It’s just a simple garden shed, but with a bit of elbow grease and some help from Ant, it’s now a fully functional dye studio. I even have a little sink tucked away behind the camera! I'll do a full tour in a future video, but for now, just know that I'm absolutely thrilled to have this creative haven.

I've been busy in the shed, experimenting with new colors and planning for some exciting seasonal releases. Even though it’s only May, I’m already thinking ahead to a September launch of new colorways. My recent shows have made me realize the importance of having a mix of seasonal colors, so I’m working on a range that will be perfect for autumn and winter. Expect rich, cozy hues that will make your knitting projects shine!

Speaking of projects, let me show you some of the things I've been weaving and knitting. I’ve gone a bit weaving-mad lately! I started with a super long cotton table runner—my first big project on the loom. Then there’s this snug boucle yarn scarf, and a hand-dyed purple scarf that adds a pop of color to any outfit. But the pièce de résistance is a completely hand-spun, hand-woven shawl. It’s a mix of luxurious fibers and rich textures, and I’m so proud of how it turned out.

On the knitting front, I finished the Spring Sorrel sweater by Wool & Pines, using the gorgeous Urban Purl Wonderfully Worsted yarn. It has a lovely texture around the neckline and a subtle fade to a darker color at the bottom. While I’m still debating if it’s the most flattering on me, I absolutely adore the knitting process and the final piece. I might gift it to someone special if I decide it’s not quite my style.

Beyond crafting, we've been making headway on our home projects. The bedroom is coming together nicely with some new paneling and a treasured picture from my nan’s house. The garden is getting a much-needed makeover too, with new raised beds for vegetables and plans for a lush lawn.

Oh, and did I mention I’ve become a weaving fanatic? Last year, I took a weaving course at the Bristol Weaving Workshop, and it sparked a newfound passion. I bought myself an Ashford Knitters Loom and have been creating beautiful, textured pieces ever since. From cozy scarves to intricate shawls, weaving has become a new favorite pastime, and I can’t wait to share more of my projects with you.

I’ve also started spinning my own yarn, adding another layer of creativity to my work. Combining hand-spun yarn with hand-dyed colors has opened up endless possibilities, and I’m loving every minute of it.

Thank you so much for joining me on this creative journey. Your support and encouragement mean everything to me. Stay tuned for more updates, more projects, and plenty of colorful adventures from the dye shed. Until next time, happy crafting!

With love, Woollen Wytch 🧶💖
